Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how PawKit ("the App", "we") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application. We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about what we do with your data.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account data: email address, display name, and authentication identifier (when you sign in via Email, Google, or Apple).
- Pet data: name, breed, species, birthday, weight history, photos, and other attributes you choose to enter.
- Activity logs: walks, meals, water intake, potty events, grooming, play, medications, vet visits, vaccinations, symptoms, temperatures, allergies, behavior notes, and free-text notes you add to any record.
- AI requests: the question text you submit through the "Ask AI" feature, along with the aggregated activity data sent as context.
- Subscription transactions: receipt identifier and product ID handled by Apple StoreKit (we do not store credit card or payment-method data — Apple handles all payment processing).
- Promo codes you redeem inside the App.
Information collected automatically
- Device tokens for push notifications (Apple Push Notification Service and Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- App diagnostic logs (errors, performance metrics) via Firebase Crashlytics-style telemetry. Logs do not include the contents of your records, only error stack traces.
- App Check tokens that verify requests come from your authentic copy of the App.
2. How we use information
- To operate the App's core features — record-keeping, scheduling reminders, generating PDF reports, household sharing, leaderboards.
- To send AI-generated insights and answers based on the pet data you have logged. Your AI requests are processed by Anthropic (Claude API) under their data-processing terms. Anthropic does not train models on API inputs.
- To send push notifications for reminders and household activity (only categories you enable in Settings).
- To process subscription payments via Apple StoreKit (we never see card data).
- To fix bugs and improve performance based on diagnostic logs.
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with the following processors strictly to operate the App:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, database (Firestore), Cloud Functions, push notifications. Data stored on Google Cloud Platform.
- Anthropic, PBC — processes AI requests (Claude API) when you use AI-powered features (recommendations, Ask AI). Per Anthropic's API terms, your inputs are not used to train their models.
- Apple Inc. — payment processing via StoreKit, push notification delivery via APNs.
We may share aggregated, de-identified data for analytics or research; this data cannot be used to identify you or your pet.
4. Data retention
- We keep your account and pet data until you delete your account in Settings → Profile → Delete account.
- Upon account deletion: your authentication record, journals, all pet records, and household memberships are permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Some non-personal aggregated logs may persist for diagnostic purposes.
- Backups may temporarily contain your data for up to 90 days; backups are not used to restore deleted accounts.
5. Children
PawKit is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data (available in-app: Settings → Delete account).
- Export your data (use Health → Export medical card PDF for pet records, or contact us for full export).
- Opt out of certain processing.

7. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, encryption at rest via Google Cloud and Apple platforms). However, no system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to or stored by us.
8. International transfers
If you use the App outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States (where Firebase, Apple, and Anthropic operate). By using the App, you consent to such transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
